Starting my Final Major Project

(Sorry I havent posted anything on here for a while)
So for my final major project I have decided to paint portraits. The title of the unit will be "Painting the Famous". The idea is to end up with half a dozen portrait of famous people who I find interesting and inspiring.

This is my first idea which is a portrait of the famous film director Tim Burton along with a handful of his amazing creations. The first challenge was the colour scheme which I wanted to keep dark and gothic like his movies so I decided to prime the canvas with black before I started the portrait. It started out as a simple portrait which was only meant to be a practice for when I do it on a larger scale but I decided to take it further by adding charectors from his films which I think worked out quite well.

It took me about 4 days to paint

Im really glad with how this turned out and I am looking forward to starting my next portrait which I have yet to decide apon

Philippe Halsman and Salvador Dali "Three Flying Cats"

Salvador Dalí and Three Flying Cats This Idea of the three cats flying through the air wasn't Salvador's first idea. He initially wanted to blow up a duck using Dynamite which sounds like a crazy idea and I don't think it would've been as successful as this one. It goes to show how Dali's mind works, this is what makes him so unique in the way he works. In a strange way, I would've liked to have seen his original idea, even though it would have unsettled me. The amount of work put into this one image is pretty amazing. the amount of tries to get the image just right is admirable, especially in an age where digital editing doesn't exists. Looking at the behind the scenes photos was very interesting. You can make out the assistant holding up a chair and you can see the failed attempts at getting the cats to look right as they are thrown into the air. My Experience with Photography Equipment

My First DSLR Camera Ive decided to write about the photography equipment which I have used throughout my life. I dont have a great deal of knowledge when it comes to photography but I have been interested in it for the past 5 years or so. I remember the first camera I got was a Finepix s4000 which its quite a chunky DSLR style camera with a very simply design and performance. This camera got me through the Art and Design btec course with some great results, it introduced me to the world of DSLR cameras. This camera only has 14 megapixel which doesn't sound like a lot nowadays for a camera, given that most phone cameras are far better. My current phone has a 12 megabytes camera which is quite impressive, but their are some camera phones out there like the Huawei P20 that have a massive 40 Megapixel primary camera, which is pretty insane for a camera phone. Landscape Paintings report

For this report, we are to choose two paintings with a different style and respond to them and compare. I have chosen work by John Constable and Casper David Friedrich. I am very familiar with John Constable's work as I have admired it for years. He is an inspiration to me in regards to painting landscapes and I strive to be as detailed as him one day.
